BIOGRAPHY
Born to a humble teacher’s family, U.Vaithilingam and V.Manimekalai, as their first son, in 1964, May 27. Blessed with 2 sisters and 1 brother, grown as an Upper middle-class family in Vridhachalam, Cuddalore district. With a school education at Vridhachalam meritoriously, selected for admission to Engineering in 1981 by the State Technical Education Directorate. Studied B.E Civil Engineering during 1981-1985.
Back home in 1986, established a construction company in Vridhachalam along with my friends. However, left the company to friends, and went to Gujarat, Kakarapar Atomic Power Project in 1987 to serve as a construction site engineer, till 1989.
Back home town in 1989, joined Annamalai University as a Teaching faculty. Undertook PG Program in Environmental Engineering in 1989 to pursue subsequent doctoral program under the guidance of Dr.M.P.Chockalingam, B.E., M.S., PhD(USA) and blessed with a doctoral degree in Environmental Engineering in 2001.
Married to N.Tamilarasi, my good classmate during the B.E program at Government College of Engineering, Salem, with whose inspiration and support life still moves nicely. We were blessed with my son N.Sriniwasa Prabhu, in 1993, who went to Carnegie Mellon, Pennsylvania, Pittsburg, USA, and completed his MS program in Environmental Engineering, meritoriously. Back home in 2017, he married Abhinaya in 2020 and they are blessed with my grandson Athiran.
I served Annamalai University as a teaching faculty for 37 years, during which period I was Head, the Department of Civil Engineering (2018-2021) and the first Director of, the Centre for Environment, Health & Safety (2009-2024). Retired in 2024, only to push myself actively on the industry side and freshen up with my competency gained over the years as a Climate Change Expert, preparing to serve as a GHG & ESG Professional in the years ahead.
Gratefully and graciously, life keeps going well for me with my best half, son, daughter-in-law, and cute grandson. I remain grateful and will continue to remain grateful to my Almighty, Shri Thiroupathi Amman from my native village, Kombadi Kuppam for all Her blessings- yesterday, today, and tomorrow.
